2011 – Dance Project “AkzepTanz 2”

The dance project “AkzepTanz 2” (= “AccepDance 2”) is the sequel of the 2010 project and was addressed to pupils of 5th to 7th grade.

Acceptance and tolerance are timeless issues in our society, both for adults and for juveniles and children. Time and again we are trying to explain to juveniles and children, how much important acceptance is within our society, what it means to accept others and how to realise.

Already in December 2010 CGE Erfurt e.V. in cooperation with the public secondary school no. 3 “Kolpingschule” of Erfurt and the Perspektiv e.V., represented by Ms Petra Hildesheim, picked up the issues of acceptance and tolerance and worked on them with pupils of 8^th to 10^th grade – and that dancing: with methods of modern expression dance and break dance during 5 days the pupils dealt with themselves and their social environment, prejudices, stereotypes, and their own role within. That week had been exhausting physically and even mentally, but a success in every way: the juveniles excelled themselves in many respects – not least artistic.

As a result of the enormous interest on the part of the pupils of all grades and of the respectable success, it has been concluded to offer the project again for classes of the 5^th to 7^th grade. Thanks to the financial support of the Stadtwerke Erfurt (municipal utilities) and the Education Department the project week could be run from 30/06/ to 07/07/2011. This time with the assistance of two staff members of CGE Erfurt e.V. and the school’s social worker Ms Hildesheim, the topic has been worked out, reflected and documented more detailed: the pupils have compiled a web-blog, made a film and issued a project-journal.

At the end of the project-week finally a presentation took place in the school, at which the pupils showcased their work’s results within a dancing performance, introduced the web-blog and showed the film. Also a project-journal is available for reading.

The performance took place on Thursday, 07/07/2011 at 10:30 AM in the public secondary school no. 3 “Kolpingschule” in Erfurt.

The project hass been promoted within the programme “20×1000” of the Stadtwerke Erfurt Gruppe.
