Since May 2010 the project Die Werkstatt der Schmetterlinge (“The Butterfly Workshop”) took place in Erfurt.
“The Butterfly Workshop is a dance theatre project on the theme visions for physically handicapped and/or motor skill impaired children and juveniles at the age of 8 to 17 years.

During a period of eight months pupils of the special education centre of Erfurt edited the story of Gioconda Belli, which is about Rodolfo’s dream on the invention of butterflies, with the tools of dance theatre at weekly workshops. They have been supported and guided by a dance pedagogue and a (special) social pedagogue of the school (both female). The project’s aim was to stimulate a process of creative and social progression of the pupils, as well as to strengthen their self-confidence with regard to their body and their options of expression. Furthermore they shold have been enabled to develop independent personal and social visions. In this cooperative project limits of age and physical-motorally differences have been overcome and the integration of people with handicaps within the school’s community as well as outside has been strongly promoted.

The play premiered on November 25th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the theatre “Schotte”, Erfurt.

On December 3rd, 2010, the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”, at 11:00 a.m. the play had been presented at the Thuringian Parliament.

A presentation within the school was shown on December 20th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.  in the Public Education Centre “Schule im Andreasried” in Erfurt.
