The ChildrenSongsSoundWorkshop is a music project, that aimed to let come together children at the age of 5 to 10 years with and without physical handicap and/or motor skill impairment by music as medium and to lead them to cooperative learning, collaborative and equal creative designing and working.
During a peroid of 3 months approximately 40 children from 2 nursery schools and 2 primary schools, including 2 integrational respectively specialised institutions, worked with selected song material:
- Integrative Child Care Centre of the CJD “Die kleinen Europäer (The Little Europeans)”, Erfurt
- Catholic Child Care Centre “St. Bonifazius”, Erfurt-Hochheim
- Christophorus-School Erfurt
- Primary School 30 “Am Steigerwald”, Erfurt
According to their age and their abilities the children analysed and arranged the song material, developed simple song accompaniments with instruments from the Orff-instrumentary and of course performed themselves. Thereby singing, dancing and playing played similary important roles.

Resulting from the phase of creative development the children experienced, how the songs interpreted by themselves have been transferred to a CD by the recording with a sound engineer. Highlight and conclusion of the project was the work’s presentation in form of a conjoint concert performed by the children and adults. Both CD and public concert eternise the creative and integrative idea behind the project and underline the idea’s significance enduring through the external image they cause.
The project started at September 19th, 2011. The recording of the CD on November 2nd, 2011 has been executed by Peter Röhl (www.events47.com), while the children were both playing instruments themselves and being supported by the guest musicians Judith Elter, Sascha Köhler, and Christiane Richter. The final performance took place on December 16th, 2011 at 5 PM at the St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche), Schillerstrasse 50 in Erfurt.
