Car Free Day in Erfurt on September 18th, 2011 – CGE Erfurt e.V. has been part of it

Within the European Mobility Week “Alternative Mobility” the Town of Erfurt on Sunday, September 18th, 2011 under the motto “Raising quality of life by car free mobility“ organised the Car Free Day in Erfurt. This event supported the awareness of the residents and visitors of the free state’s capital for questioning the own mobility enjoyably and eventfully.

CULTURE GOES EUROPE (CGE) – Soziokulturelle Initiative Erfurt e.V. participated in and has been part in the form of a station at the corner Juri-Gagarin-Ring/Franckestraße (in front of the Haus der sozialen Dienste – “House of Social Services”, Juri-Gagarin-Ring 150)! There we have been informing on our offer and arranged a tombola with interesting and unique prizes. Despite the rainy and coolish weather there have been many visitors.

Excerpt of the programme guide of the town of Erfurt:

The Town of Erfurt accomplishes its Car Free Day on September 18th, 2011. Place of this event will be the Juri-Gagarin-Ring, which will be closed for car traffic that day between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM from Lachsgasse/Thomaseck in the south and Franckestraße in the north.

The motto “Raising quality of life by car free mobility“ shall support the awareness of the residents for the personal behaviour in mobility.

A variegated programme in the time between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM will highlight this concern. Please take part consciously and take your bicycle.

So many car free space on one of the most frequented streets of Erfurt had been a chance to enjoy the junction between traffic at rest and party atmosphere!
